There was a spark inccident at the factory that is currently under control, according to a statement from Pegatron, adding the incident “does not have significant financial or operational impact” on the business.

“There are no casualties, no injuries, and no other assets are damaged. The competent government is presently looking into what caused the mishap, according to Pegatron.

According to a police officer who described the incident as minor, an investigation was being conducted alongside the fire department.

Local media reported

A video from late Monday showed security personnel attempting to disperse a crowd that had collected near the facility’s entrance as a result of the fire, which had caused black smoke to envelop the nearby region.

According to research firm Counterpoint, Pegatron produces 10% of Apple’s iPhones in India. This year, it is predicted that Apple will sell more than nine million iPhones in India.

Since it started iPhone assembly in India in 2017 with Wistron and later Foxconn, Apple has made significant investments in the nation as the country’s government has pushed for domestic production.

Pegatron, which began iPhone assembly in India in September of last year, is also in discussions to establish a second contract manufacturing plant in India close to the current one in Tamil Nadu.
