North Eastern Railway  In 1875, a 45 mile rail line from Dalsingsarai to Darbhanga reached out to famine affected areas and became the cornerstone in the history of the North Eastern Railway.North Eastern Railway came into existence on 14^thApril 1952, when two complete Railway Systems viz. Oudh Tirhoot Railway & Assam Railway and Fatehgarh District of BB & CI Railway were merged into one system and was inaugurated by the first Prime Minister of India Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru.It stretched from Achnera near Agra in the West to Ledo near the border of West Bengal in the East. On 15^thJanuary 1958, it was divided into two Zones (i) the North East Frontier Railway and (ii) the North Eastern Railway with headquarter at Gorakhpur, comprising of five Divisions viz. Izatnagar, Lucknow, Varanasi, Samastipur and Sonepur.

Position: Group C & D Posts

Qualification:

Group C Posts: 

Technician-III:

• Matriculation or its equivalent with ITI in relevant trade (Recognised by SCVT/NCVT) and 12th or its equivalent with 50% marks in aggregate.
• The compulsion of 50% marks in aggregate will not be insisted upon in case of SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen candidates and candidates possessing qualifications higher than 12th or its equivalent.

Group D Posts: Matriculation (10th) or its equivalent

Experience: Freshers/Experience

Age Limit:

• For Group C Posts – 18 – 30 Years
• For Group D Posts – 18 – 33 Years

Salary: Pay Level 1- 2

Age Relaxation:

• For 05 years for SC/ST Candidates
• For  03 years for OBC Candidates
• Up to the extent of service rendered in Defence plus 03 years for Ex. Servicemen, provided they have put more than 06 months service after attestation
• By 05 years for candidates who have ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989

Selection Process:

• Written Examination- (60 marks): Separate Written Examinations shall be conducted for Group ‘C’ and Level-1 (Erstwhile Group ‘D’) posts. The written examination will consist of 40 objective question (40 marks) & 01 essay type question (20 marks) relating to Scouts and Guides organization and its activities and General Knowledge as per the syllabus given in para 7 hereunder

Application Fee:

• Rs. 500/-(Rupees Five Hundred) only. Refund of Rs. 400 will be made to those candidates who actually appear in the written examination.
• For candidates belonging to SC, ST, Ex-servicemen, Persons With Benchmark Disability (PwBDs), Women, Minorities and Economically Backward Classes: Rs-250/–(Rs. Two Hundred Fifty) only. Refund of Rs. 250/- will be made to those candidates who actually appear in the written examination.
