Wabetainfo shared a preview screenshot that shows WhatsApp on a new page for users to create a secret code for their protected chat folder. This feature will be available in the future.
To give users more control over the privacy of their chats, Meta-owned WhatsApp is working on introducing a secret code setting feature for locked chats. The upcoming feature aims to give users more control over locked chats by allowing them to choose a custom password for their protected chat folders. The feature, which is still in development, was spotted by WhatsApp tracking website Wabetainfo. The update was found in WhatsApp for Android beta version v2.23.21.9 and is available through the Google Play Beta program.

“Thanks to this new section, we have discovered some useful information about secret codes. By entering the secret code, users can easily find blocked chats, especially in the app’s search bar. Moreover, You can also lock chats from companion devices by setting a secret code. As stated in the creation form, WhatsApp suggests using words or simple emojis for quick access,” Wabetainfo added on its page.

The Meta-owned messaging platform introduced a chat lock feature earlier this year. This allows users to lock specific chats using fingerprint, passcode, or face lock.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is also planning to introduce a new user interface with new colors and redesigned icons, among others. Wabetainfo recently reported that this change is being rolled out to his Android version of WhatsApp.

The website published several screenshots on its page that show important improvements to the WhatsApp interface that will be rolled out in future updates. WhatsApp for Android has new redesigned icons that aim to modernize the interface.
