Parliament security break: MHA needs change of guard, requests that CISF lead overview prior to assuming responsibility from Delhi Police

The Service of Home Undertakings (MHA) has asked the Focal Modern Security Power (CISF) to direct an overview of the Parliament fabricating and its premises for the ordinary organization of its security wing and fire wing staff prior to assuming responsibility.

Pursuing the MHA’s heading, a DIG-rank CISF official sent a letter on December 20 to the IG (CISF NCR Area) asking that a review be led for normal organization. ” According to the letter, “in accordance with MHA’s ‘In-Principle’ approval, board is hereby constituted with Ajay Kumar, DIG, CISF Unit CGBS, New Delhi as Presiding Officer for conducting joint survey of Parliament Premises and its Buildings for regular deployment of CISF Security and Fire Wing on comprehensive pattern, in accordance with PSU and Fire norms.”

“It is mentioned to detail different individuals from the joint review board incorporating an official with specialized skill. “The survey board may be directed to conduct the survey instructions/guidelines issued from time to time on conducting surveys in association with representative(s) of the Parliament Secretariat,” the letter adds. An officer of the CISF Fire Wing may also be detailed in consultation with the Fire Directorate.
“Properly finished study reports for Security and Fire Wing with these records may generously be submitted to this Directorate at the earliest for additional interaction please; data proforma, and IFD graph with explicit support for every obligation post,” the letter further says.

On December 13, Sagar Sharma, a resident of Lucknow, and Manoranjan D, a resident of Mysuru, jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery, yelled slogans, and opened canisters that released yellow smoke, causing MPs to panic. After the occurrence, eight security staff had been suspended by the Lok Sabha Secretariat for the security pass.

As per the MHA, the CISF is at present giving security cover to nuclear power plants, space establishments, protection creation units, mines, oil fields and treatment facilities, significant seaports, weighty designing, steel plants, compost units, air terminals, hydroelectric or nuclear energy stations, delicate government structures, legacy landmarks and significant confidential area units.
