Shah Mahmood Qureshi, the former prime minister of Pakistan, received a 10-year prison sentence in a cipher case.
Cipher Case: Pakistan’s former prime minister Imran Khan has been found guilty of violating the country’s official secrecy law by disclosing a diplomatic cable while in office. Therefore, the court sentenced him to ten years in prison.Special judge Abual Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain gave the order on Tuesday, according to a text message from Imran Khanand Shoaib Shaheen’s lawyer. According to him, the same incident led to his former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi being sentenced to 10 years in prison.The Court of Appeal can hear Imran Khan’s appeal against this decision.The case concerns allegations that Imran Khan disclosed to the Islamabad government the contents of a secret cable sent by the nation and its ambassador in Washington.
According to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), a special court sentenced Imran Khan and former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi to 10 years in prison each. He announced that the party would appeal the decision, calling it a “false case”.andquot;Pakistan supports Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood Qureshi who defended Haqeeq Azad and Pakistan.andquot; PTI said on X (formerly Twitter) that such a test cannot change what happened in March-April 2022 at the behest of Donald Lu.PTI hereafter called Cypher case; utter mockery and disregard of the law; and urged people to vote in the general election scheduled for February 8.
It went on to say, InshaAllah, the Captain and the Vice-Captain will soon return and this sentence will be thrown out at the appeal stage.
What is the Pakistan cipher case?
- More than 150 cases have been registered against Imran Khan, including cryptography.
- Other reasons include incitement to violence, terrorism and justice.
- Encryption case claims that Imran Khan brandished a secret cable, a secret document at a rally after his downfall.
- The paper was not publicly available by the government and Imran Khan’s lawyers, but it appears to be official correspondence between the Pakistani ambassador in Washington and the foreign ministry in Islamabad.
- Imran Khan claimed during the speech that the document showed that he had been threatened and that the Pakistani government and military were part of a US plan to impeach him.
- Pakistani and US officials have denied the claim.
- PTI was concerned that Khan would receive the death penalty for treason during the trial. Imran Khan vehemently denied any wrongdoing and claimed that he had not revealed the exact content of the thread.

Trial against Imran Khan
Dawn News reported that after Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi filed charges again on December 13, a special court resumed the encryption process in the Adiala district jail last month.In October, the first charge was presented in the case against former prime minister and jailed Qureshi. They pleaded not guilty. The government notice and the prison process were found to be incorrect and Islamabad High Court which stopped the whole process.
This is not a trial, but a fixed match, the outcome of which was predetermined by the characters and planners of the London plan and their seals, Imran Khan said X on social media. Therefore I am already aware of the incident and the result.
He continued and I quote. Recall that the Islamabad High Court twice declared the Cipher case null and void and ordered a retrial because the case was judged against the law and the constitution. Also, since the entire foundation of this case is built on lies, threats, conspiracy and fraud, the Supreme Court granted me bail in this case as well.The Interim Federal Government of Pakistan challenged the decision of the IHC earlier this month and said it was invalid to announce the PTI leader and jail term in the encryption case.
It said that the government filed a petition in the Supreme Court to set aside the judgment and sentence of the Court of Appeal, arguing that the court misjudged the case and the facts. The argument presented was that the IHC had no jurisdiction to cancel the special court that was set up to control the test of the former prime minister trial in secret. PTIfounder Imran Khan was accused of revealing state secrets and in November last year the IHC withdrew its notice of arrest process. That was reported by Geo News.
